Episode 104: Richard Crowley & The Wellness Ride
“The goal of the Wellness Ride was to advocate and deliver wellness. In the process, I lost my own.”
On this week’s episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast I sit down with the Wild Man of Wellness, Richard Crowley. Richie left his hometown Canton, MA on July 20th by bike. He didn’t stop until he hit the Santa Monica pier in California. He fed over 2,000 plant-based meals to those in need along the way. What started as an act to demonstrate the accessibility of wellness ended in a whole new perspective on people, guns, food, and the pursuit of one’s dreams.
We talk about why he chose to ride his bike across the country, the physical challenges of doing so, the places he felt most uncomfortable, how his perspective on guns changed, the accessibility and education of healthy food in various parts of the country, the barriers to wellness that exist in many places, how he ultimately lost his own wellness, and why a dream deferred is the greatest personal tragedy. Hop on into the saddle and enjoy what is always an adventurous ride with the one and only Richie!
