Episode 138: James Newbury & Becoming Australia's Fittest Man

“A lot of people think if they’re not grinding then they’re not improving. Yes, you have to take action and work out, but don’t skip past the things that give us life, like breath and sleep.”

On this week’s episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast, I sit down with the beast that is James Newbury. James is a former professional rugby player turned CrossFit athlete and has been named Australia’s fittest man four times. In 2019, James finished 5th at the CrossFit Games, earning him the title of the 5th Fittest Man on Earth.

We talk about how James got started in CrossFit, why he’s recently dabbled with triathlon, his love of trying just about anything new, how he went from just starting out to making the CrossFit games in a 5 year span, what he thinks separates himself from others, why he recently went vegan, why he utilizes fasting, breath work, and float tanks, the power of visualization for healing and performance, how sport has helped him as an entrepreneur, and his advice for leading a healthier life. James is a force and I can’t think of a better conversation to end 2020 and kickoff the new year.
